What inspired you to become a hairdresser, and how did your journey start?

The creativity side of hair was a massive part of my inspiration. Doing something different everyday , learning new ways of doing things and making people feel their best is a very rewarding feeling. Hair is a big part of your personality and I feel like there is so many ways to express yourself through your hair.

How long have you been in the hair industry, and what do you love most about it?

I’ve been in the hair industry for 6 years. I started off doing work experience when I was 15 and then from there I decided to leave school early and start my apprenticeship full time . I really enjoyed the independence of leaving school and doing something fun and passionate straight away . I loved how hands on hairdressing is, I enjoyed learning things and working in a team environment surrounded by people who share the same passion as myself.

What’s your favourite service to offer (cut, colour, styling, etc.), and why?

My favourite service to offer would definitely have to be anything colour. I love seeing how something so small can make such a difference in someone’s appearance and even how they view themselves . It’s so refreshing seeing someone look at themselves and feel good about what they see . It’s fun trying new formulas out and seeing what works on different people, because no colour is the same on every person, it’s customised to suit you and what you like as a person.

What’s your favourite hair trend or technique right now?

I absolutely love that people are starting to embrace their natural colour or tones. Lived in blondes and any type of balayage would have to be my favourite trends at the moment.

What do you want clients to feel when they sit in your chair?

I want my clients to feel comfortable whenever they are around me. I want people to feel like they can be their authentic selves, if that means just sitting there and enjoying the service in silence or talking the whole way through I love it either way . It’s important to help uplift clients when they leave the salon, everyone wants to feel like they’re being listened to without any judgment and made to feel beautiful when you’re walking out.

What’s something unique or fun about you that clients might not know?

I wouldn’t say I have a lot of unique talents, but I love animals and am hoping to own a lot of them in the near future.

Do you have a go-to product or haircare tip you always recommend?

I would always recommend my clients use a leave in conditioner of any kind to help keep the hair soft and shiny! I would also recommend any kind of heat protection if you’re using any form of heat on the hair.

What’s been a career highlight or proud moment for you so far?

I would definitely say confidence wise, hairdressing has taught me to come out of my shell and be myself around others and getting better at doing things I never thought I could achieve.

What do you love about being part of the Onje Hair team?

I love the team I work with and how supportive everyone is towards eachother . It’s super easy to come to work when you know you have some really great characters to work with everyday.
